New partnership builds connections to prioritise children’s safety online

Glide, an UK internet service provider (ISP) has demonstrated its commitment to online safety by aligning with the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) as a Member of the child protection charity.

By working with the IWF, Glide and other ISPs can contribute to a safer internet and help combat the online exploitation of children.

The ISP offers managed wi-fi and fibre connectivity solutions for education, businesses, student accommodation and residential developers, and membership of the IWF grants access to a range of cutting-edge safety tech tools that will help Glide protect children, its staff and customers.

Glide will make use of the IWF’s URL service, a list of webpages known to contain pictures and videos of child sexual abuse so that it can block access to the criminal material. The list is dynamic and updated every day as IWF analysts find and remove webpages.

John Standhaven, Head of Education at Glide, said: “Glide is proud to join the Internet Watch Foundation as a member. Our services are designed to protect all our users, and our safeguarding technology can be a valuable asset in combating online abuse and ensuring a safer digital experience for all.

"We believe that online safety is a paramount concern for everyone. By collaborating with IWF, we aim to contribute to a safer digital environment where young people can learn, grow and thrive without fear of harm. Our commitment to protecting children online aligns perfectly with IWF’s mission, and we look forward to working together to make a positive impact.”

Derek Ray-Hill, Interim CEO of the IWF, said: “Children’s protection is at the heart of what we do at the Internet Watch Foundation. Every agreement we make and partnership we embark upon is expressly designed to further our efforts to find, remove and block horrific child sexual abuse images and videos that proliferate on the internet.

“We’re delighted to have Glide onboard as part of our mission to make the internet safer for all, as collaboration with like-minded organisations in the tech sector is a vital part of achieving that goal. We know our world-leading services and tools are tried and trusted and can be relied upon to help businesses stop the spread of this material on platforms and services online.”
