New ally bolsters IWF mission to stop spread of child sexual abuse imagery online

Published:  Tue 3 Dec 2024

JSI, the leader in lawful intelligence and AI-enabled data analytics solutions, has joined forces with the IWF to help tackle child sexual abuse imagery on the internet.

As an IWF Member, JSI joins our community of more than 200 companies around the world working to halt the distribution of child sexual abuse material and make the internet a safer place for all.

A pioneer in the industry, JSI’s comprehensive data collection and analysis platform 4Sight gives law enforcement agencies the power to pull together and connect vast amounts of data from diverse sources to reveal investigative breakthroughs faster.

Partnership with the IWF will give JSI access to a unique range of services, including the IWF Image Hash List.

The Hash List is a list of ‘digital fingerprints’ of known child sexual abuse imagery. Each criminal image has its own individual hash. Once an image has been hashed, it can be identified quickly as confirmed criminal content without anyone having to see the original image.

Kevin Atkins, VP of Product at JSI, said: “At JSI, we’re committed to equipping law enforcement with the most advanced tools to combat the worst forms of online crime. Our partnership with the IWF marks a significant milestone in this effort, enabling us to support investigators not only in identifying and removing harmful content swiftly but also in safeguarding their mental wellbeing. Together, we can make a real difference in the fight against child sexual abuse material and build safer online communities worldwide.”

Heidi Kempster, Deputy CEO of the IWF, said: “The IWF exists to hunt down images and videos of child sexual abuse online and eradicate them. But we cannot do this alone. Because of the vast nature of the internet, we need allies in the international tech industry to help us to disrupt and stop the spread of child sexual abuse material.

“JSI’s membership will bolster our mission and ensure that global law enforcement organisations have access to our unique Hash List, digital codes for more than two million images that IWF analysts have verified as containing child sexual abuse content and thus vital data for criminal investigations.

“We welcome JSI as a valuable partner in our efforts to protect children around the world.”
