Sycope joins the Internet Watch Foundation to strengthen protections for children online

The IWF has welcomed Sycope as a new Member, supporting its mission to stop the spread of child sexual abuse material online.

Sycope is a European cybersecurity company that specialises in monitoring, analysing and securing large‑scale, complex networks such as found in public sector bodies, critical infrastructure operators and telecom providers.

Its flagship technology analyses network traffic metadata in real time to reveal activity, threats and operational risks across on‑premise, cloud, hybrid and educational networks. A key focus of Sycope’s work is supporting national‑scale projects, including secure internet access initiatives for schools and public institutions.

As an IWF Member, Sycope gains access to the charity’s specialised tools designed to prevent the spread of harmful content online. The IWF’s URL List, for example, provides a comprehensive list of webpages confirmed to contain images and videos of child sexual abuse.

Sycope will integrate the IWF URL List and Keywords List into its security and web‑filtering solutions. This integration will strengthen its ability to detect, block and prevent access to child sexual abuse material at scale, helping ensure safer digital spaces for young people and reducing the risk of both accidental and deliberate exposure across the networks it protects.

Ewa Micyk, COO of Sycope, said: “Protecting children online is not optional – it is a shared responsibility. Joining the Internet Watch Foundation is a natural extension of Sycope’s mission to deliver secure and trustworthy digital environments, especially for young users.

“By integrating IWF’s expertise and services into our solutions, we significantly strengthen our ability to detect and block illegal and harmful content at scale. This partnership allows us not only to protect users more effectively, but also to contribute to a global effort built on collaboration, knowledge sharing and accountability.”

Kerry Smith, CEO of IWF, said: “Survivors of child sexual abuse deserve reassurance that there are people standing up for them – working to stop images of their abuse from being viewed online. Eliminating this criminal content lies at the heart of the IWF’s mission, and our collaboration with technology companies is essential to making that work possible.

“We look forward to working closely with Sycope as they strengthen safeguards for young users and contribute to a safer digital environment for everyone.”
