Tom Newton is a technologist who has spent over 2 decades trying to make the Internet a safer place.
After graduating from the University of Leeds with a degree in computing, he spent much of his career with education online safety experts Smoothwall, who were among the earliest associate members of the IWF.
Having worked in product management, Tom is keenly aware of the pressures IWF members face internally and the tensions tech companies are put under. He hopes to be able to resolve some of these in some small way with his current work in standards and influencing around Internet safety.
Tom briefly chaired the IWF's funding council after serving as a member for well over a decade.
