African Advanced Level Telecommunications Institute

AFRALTI Director and CEO, Mr William Baraza

The African Advanced Level Telecommunications Institute (AFRALTI) is an Inter-Governmental Institute based in Kenya but working in many countries on the African continent, including in Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Kingdom of Eswatini, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zimbabwe. The Institute focuses on supplementing and spearheading ICT development efforts mainly in English-speaking countries in Africa.

Through various collaborations, AFRALTI trains and builds capacity amongst individuals and organisations on a wide range of topics around ICT development efforts, including cybersecurity, telecom engineering, computer programming, and child online protection. Specifically, IWF is partnering with AFRALTI on their child online protection programme.

IWF’s support on the AFRALTI child online protection (COP) programme

IWF experts are collaborating as guest trainers on the monthly COP training organised by AFRALTI.

Such training is directed to relevant organisations and individuals working in the field of child protection and cybersecurity, such as NGOs, ISPs/internet or the telecommunications industry, government bodies and law enforcement. The sessions build capacity amongst key players and policy-makers and ensure that the protection of children online is a key topic at the forefront of each participant’s role and aspirations.
