Morbid images

There is no evidence available to us that beheading, bombing and morbid images are being hosted in the UK. Our remit only permits us to manage 'obscenity' reports if hosted in the UK.

We are aware of websites hosted outside the UK that publish such content but we have no authority to approach them on such matters. Each country and each internet service provider (ISP) must make their own decisions about these websites according to their own laws.

Should you wish to take the matter further then you might consider complaining to the ISP in the country concerned.

Additionally, if you are concerned that such sites are accessible to other users through your own PC, you might like to consider the use of a suitable filter that would block such sites. More information on filtering and filter software can be found in our information on Filtering.

Images from recent terrorist attacks are not illegal to display and therefore The IWF cannot take any action to remove them. You may find such images distasteful and you may want to consider using filtering software to avoid receiving such content. If you wish to complain about the hosting of such images you should contact your ISP for consideration under their Acceptable Use Policies.
