UK adult internet users: 2008 research report

23 June 2009

Research was commissioned by the Internet Watch Foundation (IWF) in September 2008 to provide the following insights and information:
  • An up-to-date picture of the public’s awareness of the IWF and its work
  • Public perceptions of issues associated with the IWF and its role
  • To enable an evaluation of IWF awareness campaigns
  • To explore public opinion on wider issues outside the IWF’s specific role including online content, behaviours, and criminal activity as well as key concerns such as freedom of information
The research is based on 1,000 interviews with adult men and women in the UK as a representative and significant sample of UK adult internet users. Interviews were split between six age categories and conducted across ten regions including Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. The research was conducted online and each interview lasted approximately 15 minutes. All interviews were carried out in strict accordance with the MRS Code of Conduct. Fieldwork was carried out in September 2008 by Coleman Parkes Research.
