IWF unveil new WAP site
We are very pleased to announce the launch of the new IWF WAP site which goes live today.
Having this site will enable wider access to our internet hotline as it allows mobile users to report their exposure to potentially illegal online content. We are very grateful for the development work and generosity of Bango.net in designing this facility.
Peter Robbins, CEO, IWF said:
“Having a WAP site demonstrates our commitment to facilitating the submission of reports to us, by the most current technology. We are aware of the potential issues surrounding content accessed via mobile handsets and feel confident that this site will contribute towards progressive methods of reporting and the development of our notice & takedown service to mobile operators.
We offer our thanks to Bango.net for making this happen.”
The IWF has been working in partnership with the UK Mobile Operators since 2003, all of whom are funding members.
The IWF contributed to the UK Mobile Operators joint ‘Code of Practice’ for new forms of content and provides a ‘notice and take down’ mechanism to mobile operators, the same service provided to UK ISP’s.
“The mobile Internet has become mainstream with over 1 billion WAP page impressions viewed in the UK during December 2003. We are pleased to support the IWF’s activities in helping to bring to justice, anyone who provides illegal material via a mobile phone.”
