Board Membership Changes

The IWF Board consists of an independent Chair, eight non-industry representatives selected by the Chair, and four industry representatives elected by the Funding Council.

At the end of 2001, two non-industry Board members reached the end of their terms of office and they have been replaced with new members:
  • Dr Sonia Livingstone, Professor in the Department of Social Psychology at the London School of Economics, who has done a considerable amount of practical research on how children actually use the Internet.
  • Jim Reynolds, an international consultant on paedophilia who, as part of his police career, previously spent five years as the first Head of the Paedophilia Unit at New Scotland Yard.
On the industry side of the Board, one colleague has stepped down and his replacement is:
  • Howard Lamb, Network Integrity Manager at Energis Squared.
IWF Chair Roger Darlington comments: "There is already a wide range of expertise on the IWF Board, but these three new appointments will bring considerable further specialist knowledge and sound judgement to our deliberations".
Malcolm Hutty, who has represented free speech interests on the Board since its creation in 2000, resigned his seat during the 12th February Meeting.
