Newsgroup Policy Review
Following decisions at its 18th July 2001 Board Meeting IWF will now recommend that UK ISPs review their policies on newsgroups and consider their coverage of groups that are shown to be regularly receiving child porn images.
At the Meeting the Board completed its review of its policies in relation to newsgroups. Its decisions flow from a growing recognition that the majority of illegal content in newsgroups is concentrated in a small but changing selection of groups, and that IWF can regularly inform ISPs about the problem groups.
The full text of the Board paper and decisions will be published as normal in the minutes 14 days after the meeting.
