Racism

In its remit from 2000 IWF undertook to try to deal with criminally racist content on the Internet, but our work in this area depended on the assistance of the Home Office and others to identify actionable offences under the relevant Acts. We have liaised with the Home Office as part of our assessment of all content reported to us in this category.

Our Home Office advisers produced an extended guide to the application of the law to racism on the Internet. This detailed guidance is not only useful to our staff in assessing reported content, but it should help the public better understand what we can and cannot deal with under UK law. The full document can be found here.
