Peter Robbins QPM, Internet Watch Foundation Chief Executive, has been awarded an OBE for services to children and families in the Queens New Years Honours list.

The IWF completed its Tenth Anniversary Road Show campaign with conferences in Edinburgh, Belfast and Cardiff during October and November, 2007. The events were a great success with nearly 500 delegates registering to attend, representing industry, child protection, education, law enforcement, IT professions, central and local Government and charities.

Nine of the UK's highest risk child sex offenders, missing for a combined total of over 20 years, have been located in the last 12 months as a direct result of the 'Most Wanted' website run by the Child Exploitation and Online Protection (CEOP) Centre.

Home Secretary, the Rt. Hon. Jacqui Smith MP recently accelerated the fight against the sexual abuse of children by opening a new Child Exploitation and Online Protection (CEOP) centre unit focused on improving and sharing understanding of how sex offenders operate and think.

The International Association of Internet Hotlines (INHOPE) represents and co-ordinates a global network of Hotlines, dedicated to combating child sexual abuse content on the internet. In a recent special session of the INHOPE General Assembly, two new members were welcomed to the INHOPE network - Our Child Foundation from the Czech Republic and FCCN Hotline from Portugal.

Children as young as 8 years old are for the first time the focus of an online safety programme being launched by the UK police organisation dedicated to tackling child sex abuse - the Child Exploitation and Online Protection (CEOP) Centre.

Clinical psychologist Dr Tanya Byron has launched a "call for evidence" to gather information advice and views about the risks to children and young people of exposure to potentially harmful or inappropriate material on the internet and video games.

INHOPE, the International Association of Internet hotlines, reports there has been a global increase in child sexual abuse content on the Internet with 9,600 confirmed reports of child sexual abuse content processed per month.
